Most dog breeds offer great training opportunities for teams. This is especially true for puppyhood: the younger the animal, the easier it can be trained, and this is a long-established fact. The Voice command can be considered one of the basic ones, although it is not part of the UEC, and in most cases it is possible to train the dog to bark on command without problems. It is only important to show the dog the logic of this process - and she will quickly understand what is required of her. So, how to teach a dog a team voice, and achieve the execution of this team in a short time?
There are several ways to train dogs, and initially the method should be selected according to the temperament of the animal. If one method fails, you can try others, sorting through, until you find the optimal solution.
Among the most common solutions are:
- Teasing that is suitable for dogs with choleric or sanguine temperament.
- Catching is a universal way for any more or less savvy animals.
- Manipulation with the owner - for dogs attached to the owner.
- Guard reaction - for guard dogs.
Considering how to train a dog to voice a command, and weighing the feasibility of developing such a skill, if this is not so necessary for your dog, it is worth knowing some things in advance.
The more active and curious your animal is, the easier it can be trained, and the faster it will master this command. And vice versa, melancholy and phlegmatic dogs that behave calmly and think more than exhibit physical activity will be difficult to learn, especially if it is no longer a puppy, but an adult dog.
Why teach the Voice team
The Voice is primarily a service team, and in some cases there really is no need to train this dog. But if we are talking about protected animals, then studying this item will be absolutely necessary, and the same applies to hunting dogs. In general, the voice of a dog can be justified by such aspects:
- threat detection - guard dog, guide, guard dog;
- detection of game, object, person - by search or hunting dogs;
- as a reaction to the removal or approximation of the subject of protection - for guard dogs, cattle dogs.
Any dog can be trained in such a team, if not from the first, then from the tenth time. And if necessary, you just need to choose the best approach based on the temperament of the animal and the purpose of its training.
Techniques That Really Work
You can fasten the dog on a leash and press it with your foot, leaving it stretched, and take a treat in your hand. A hungry dog of a choleric or sanguine warehouse will start curling, whining and demanding food, and you will need to wait until it barks. At this moment, the Voice command is given once, and exercises of this kind are repeated until the skill is fully consolidated. A young active dog will quickly learn the relationship and learn to give a voice on command, which is what you need.
You can also catch a dog at a time when it barks for one reason or another, and send a one-time “Voice” command at that moment, reinforcing it with a treat or affection. If you are going to teach a dog a command not only by word, but also by gesture, pose, then these points will be further developed - while in the first case it is worth learning the whole complex at once.
If the dog is strongly attached to its owner, you can hone the team when it is removed and approached. The animal is simply tied, the owner leaves, and at some point the dog will begin to bark. At this moment, the owner returns and gives the dog a treat, praises. This method also allows you to quickly train your dog, which will learn the relationship in several approaches. But then again, the attachment of the puppy or dog to the owner is important.
If you use two people
If the dog has innate protective qualities, you can use them to teach the team. Then you need a partner who will dress in a neutral way and will create the appearance of a threat - you just have to wait for the barking dog and reward it. It is better to change partners in training so as not to develop a reaction to a single person, and a persistent hostility to him - especially if he is one of your friends. After all, if the dog does not love him, he will always be at risk, being at your place.
Thus, choosing the best method for your dog, you can teach it to the Voice team without difficulty. The main thing is not to put pressure on the animal in the learning process, and remember that the team is always served once, without repetition. By organizing the training correctly, consistently requiring the dog to complete the tasks, you can achieve the desired result in a short time.
